一、學生先問這里是不是有視頻播放，職工說是，播放關于爬山的內容，學生表示自己對在學生中心播放電影很感興趣，她是地球科學社的成員，想在這里播放有關水資源的公益視頻。她需要：先填表，馬上填或者在線填，會有一位老師跟她聯(lián)系。對于這些活動，學校是禁止收費的，但是他們可以用學校提供的funding，最后學生問哪里有drinking fountain，職工說在xx樓旁邊。

二、學生找教授咨詢如何寫詩給自己下個月結婚的妹妹，但是教授說她的課是分析特定社會下的詩和寫作手法，學生舉例子，就像他會分析畫，但是不代表自己能畫的很好，教授建議他下學期去上寫作課或者現(xiàn)在參加寫作社團。

三、學生來問起professor課堂上提到的series novels，就是英國維多利亞時代在報刊上連載的小說。Professor先談到了狄更斯，說他很擅長寫這類，絕大多數(shù)都是連載的，而且還有一次寫很多本的能力。然后問到學生問這個的目的是啥，學生說是想寫paper，把連載和今天流行的電視短劇結合到一起。Professor于是告訴他這些series的好處：1.會使用open-ended，建立起和readers之間的關系；2.financially accepted by readers，更多人會付得起連載的費用。

四、主要談到coral reef如何受到lionfish的影響。先介紹這種魚，然后說它是入侵物種，原因可能是之前作為寵物魚，但是被放到了Pacific ocean。因為它會吃很多當?shù)氐男◆~，而這些小魚本來會吃珊瑚上的寄生蟲和algae。然后說如何搞定lionfish：1.放shark來吃2.應急小組處理掉 3.鼓勵人們消費，吃掉它。Professor認為第二個大范圍解決不了問題;第三個值得鼓勵。

五、先說CO2是大家都公認的greenhouse gas。但是事實上methane天然氣也是一種，而且level很高。天然氣如何進入大氣的呢?1. nonbiologic way2. Underground3. biogenic methane.第3種是dead plants釋放的。提到在剛果、亞馬遜的rainforest中有很多methane產生，1.死植物decay；2.活著的植物也釋放大量methane，甚至是dead plants的3倍。目前不知道是從哪來的，也不是像媒體報道那樣現(xiàn)在砍掉樹就能解決問題。但是professor強調reforestation中要考慮森林對環(huán)境的影響。
