An AIS Bachelor of Tourism Management (BTM) degree is a three-year programme designed for students seeking future management and leadership positions within the tourism industry, both in New Zealand and overseas.

Students gain a comprehensive knowledge across a broad range of tourism topics, learning the skills, theory and analytical tools required to succeed in this rewarding career. Our graduates learn the key aspects of management, marketing and economics, preparing them for high-level roles in the industry, or to continue onto higher qualifications.

The programme comprises 21 courses, including:

Accounting Principles
Marketing Principles
Principles of Tourism
Tourism in New Zealand
Tourism in Pacific Island States
Tourism and Hospitality Business Information Systems
Managing the Visitor Experience
Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Management
Tourism and Hospitality Management
Asia-Pacific Tourism
Sustainable Tourism
Integrated Marketing Communication
Gastronomic Tourism
Tourism Policy Planning and Development

And one of:
Financial Management
Managerial Accounting

And two elective courses selected from:
Tourism Industry Practice
Events Management
Resorts and Hospitality Management
Entrepreneurship and Small Business for Tourism and Hospitality
Travel and Air Transport Management
Tourism and Hospitality Consumer Behaviour
Ecotourism Management

And one of:
Applied Tourism Management Project
Research Project

And three elective courses selected from Tourism Management, Hospitality Management or Business programmes, including at least one course at Stage III. (Please note that not all elective courses are offered every semester.)

A minimum of 14 NCEA credits in each of 3 subjects at Level 3, and a minimum of 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or higher, and a minimum of 8 literacy credits at Level 2 or higher; or Successful tertiary study; or Equivalent overseas qualification; Successful completion of three years study resulting in Chinese High School Graduation achieving an average of 75% in academic subjects Vocational schooling is assessed on a case-by-case basis and IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 / TOEFL iBT 60 (with a writing score of 18) / Pearson 50 / TEP 52 or equivalent with no band less than 12; and 17 years and over.
